How to remove "Ad not by this site" malware

If you’re seeing ads on Wikipedia, your computer is probably infected with malware.
Once in a while you are seeing a lot more ads on most websites you visit, and the ads are what can be defined as not “family-friendly”. If you see “ads not by this site” below the ads in small gray font, then this post can help you fix it. I’m not sure if it is a virus or a spyware, but its just something you don’t want. This same issue show more ads on Facebook and it displays “ads not by Facebook”. It’s pretty simple to fix this.

The usual advice you receive on the web is to install Ad Blocker Plus
and it will not appear anymore. But here you are only blocking them, and they are never truly removed. The malware still sits in your computer. Do not use Ad Blocker Plus for this issue, you are not solving the actual problem.

The real problem is caused by a browser extension called Vid-Saver. It sometimes is downloaded among other stuff like movies or mp3 or even uTorrent.

The issue is mainly because of browser extensions. The most common browser malware is the Vid-Saver. It could be named anything else, and not sound suspicious, like “CodecC 1.0”, or "Adobe Flash Player 11 activeX extension" or other names. The best way to find out which extension/addon is causing the issue is to re-visit all the browser extensions you have installed and check them one by one. Anything which you don’t remember installing or sounds a little weird may have to me checked again. Sometimes it could not be a browser extension too. It could just be some software which you have not installed. Here's a list of the different extensions or software which could cause this. Look for anything like this, and if it is something different, do mention in the comments and help update the list.

Vid-Saver
CodecC 1.0
Adobe Flash Player 11 activeX extension
I Want This
Dislike Button extension (for Facebook)
VDownloader
Coupon Dropdown

So to remove this we will need a good uninstaller. I always use Revo Uninstaller to remove stuff from my laptop, its the best I've found until now.

1.No matter what browser you are using, go to the settings and clear all the cookies, and cache.
2.Find the extension for Vid-Saver and uninstall it.
3.Close all the browser windows.
4.Download and install Revo Uninstaller.
5.Look for Vid-Saver, and click on Uninstall.
6.Carefully remove the registry entries related to Vid-Saver.
7.Complete Uninstall.
8.Restart the browser and visit the website where you were seeing this annoying ad. It should not be there anymore, and must not come back either.
