Who, how, where and what?

In one of my previous posts I stressed on the need to identify the problems of your visitors and help provide solutions to those problems. This strategy is ultimately very rewarding both to the visitor and to the site owner as well. You can only do this effectively if you are able to provide the right answer to the following questions:
Who are your visitors?
How do they landed on your site?
Where are they coming from?
What do they want?

The world wide web is a very huge and unpredictable landscape and anything can happen at anytime. All the same technology and innovation has granted us the necessary instruments and tools to meet up to the challenge.
Let's now see how it works out:
Who are they? The best strategy of knowing who your visitors are is to engage and interact with them through a number of ways. These tips help us to know details such as name, gender, age of our visitors, married or single, students or workers and also income group.
8 The Comments section of your webpage is one of them. Make adequate provision for visitors to freely comment on your blog. Comments from visitors is very important, therefore ensure that you respond to as many comments as possible. Comments are also a good way of getting quality feedback from your visitors who are consumers of your product or service. Make the comments section of your site easily accessible.

8 You can also serve questionnaires on your site that will request visitors to answer simple questions about issues. Questionnaires are great for finding out a visitor’s notion about a particular issue.
Knowing who your visitors are gives you a lot of benefits. It helps you to tailor the content of your site towards such a category of people such as females or males; children, youth, adults or old age and so on. You therefore target your solutions to the needs of such category of people.
How do they get here? Traffic is the lifeline of every online business (more updates on online traffic latter ……..). Online traffic refers to the amount of visitors that actually view your site in a particular period of time. It is therefore important to optimize your site in a way as to attract the most traffic. A site owner also needs to monitor the traffic that reaches his or her site consistently. One great tool that I have found very useful for doing this is the Google Analytics. This is a free service from Google that monitors the traffic to your site and gives you detailed report and statistics on visitors. You need one now if you don’t have one yet. With this tool, you get to know how your visitor got to your site. Websites are accessed in so many ways:
8 through search engines such as Google by searching for relevant keywords. This is the most common and a healthy indication of your site’s popularity on the internet.

8 by referrals from other sites on which there is a link to your site. These may be online forums, other sites or social networks.

8 by direct traffic, that is, someone typing your URL in his or her address bar.
Which of these sources gives you the most traffic on your site? Find out.

Where are they coming from? You can easily get this from your Google Analytics account or you can use Alexa. You must know the location or countries from which your visitors are coming from to enable you provide better services that suit their needs.
What do they want? This is a difficult situation to handle but with the right methods, you can have a fair idea of what is going on in your visitors’ mind as they view your site. People visit webpages for various reasons including to make a purchase, fish for information, communicate and interact with friends and make new ones, and host of other reasons. You can fairly determine this by the behavior of people as they landed on your site. Ask yourself questions like;
8 what do they read?

8 on which item do they click on?

8 if they arrive on your site by search engines, which keywords do they search for?

8 how do they exit your site?
Current behaviour helps determine future actions. Answers to these questions will help you examine the needs of your visitors and whether your site is actually meeting those needs. Most of information can be obtained from your Google Analytics account. They time you spent in identifying and knowing your visitors is really worth it. If you have this information you will be in a better position to satisfy their needs and provide them with services or solutions that they really need. Once again know your visitors, IT’S IMPORTANT TO YOUR SUCCESS!!!
